Flowers for Black Girls and Black Beloveds
In 2014 a group of community members came together to celebrate Black women and girls, and honor ourselves as we mourned the loss of Teaira Whitehead. We continue to ask #WhatHappenedtoTeairaWhitehead because we will never forget our dear sibling nor any of the Black women, girls, femmes, MAGES and people impacted by gender-based violence. We commit to and will continue to do the life-affirming work of giving Black folks our flowers while we are here. We will honor our beauty, dynamism, and resilience in all of our manifestations!
We make (10+) deliveries once a week on Wednesdays and we're striving to grow with more support. This is a collaboration between the Black Unicorn Library Project and Cutting Root Farm and Apothecary. Book clubs and reading Groups
We facilitate monthly book clubs and support individuals and organizations in starting their own reading groups. We also support folks in getting access to books and reading materials that they may need.
We love talking about books and if you’d like to learn more about what we’re reading or would like to start something new or want to connect to a reading group please feel free to connect with via email!
Seed Library
Borrow seeds from us and return them at the end of the growing season. If you’d like to donate seeds to the library please let us know! Check out our seeds here

Buy, Borrow, or Trade!
At our pop-ups, special events, and farmers’ markets, you can pay what you can, borrow, or trade books with us. All proceeds go towards replenishing the library and keeping our shelves full with beautiful Black books!
Books and Bread/ Books and Bread Afropostale!
A Black CSA (community supported art project) teaming up to bring you some Black Joy, an essential nutrient!
A collaboration between the Black Unicorn Library, Wild Rise Bakery, and AfroPostale Mail Art to nourish our minds and bodies. Books and Bread AfroPostale is a quarterly gift bundle of books, baked goods, and book-themed mail art. We choose two of our Instagram followers to receive a Books & Bread AfroPostale box! Each box will contain two books curated by Black Unicorn, gluten-free goodies crafted by Wild Rise Bakery, and original bookish mail art designed by AfroPostale.
